Generalities

Côte d’Ivoire is located in the northern hemisphere between the Tropic of Cancer and Ecuador and overlooks the Atlantic in the Gulf of Guinea. Its coordinates are between 4° and 10° north latitude and between 2.5° and 8.5° west longitude.

Côte d’Ivoire has common borders with 5 countries, Guinea and Liberia in the West, Mali and Burkina Faso in the North; and Ghana in the East. It is bordered in the south by the Atlantic Ocean

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

Air borders are open, in strict compliance with barrier measures. All passengers on arrival are subject to a health check and systematic monitoring during their stay in Côte d’Ivoire.

All travellers to and from Côte d’Ivoire must have a negative Covid-19 test certificate dating no more than 5 days from the date of collection.

In case of failure to present this document, the traveler may be exposed to a refusal to board from the airline, which it is recommended to approach for any further information.

In addition, all passengers on departure, arrival and transit in Abidjan must complete the declaration of travel form available online, print it and present it at check-in.

Wearing the mask is mandatory in public transport, public and private services and all public spaces. Failure to comply with barrier gestures is punishable by a fine.

Weather

Like in many West African countries, the great dry season runs from December to April. Apart from some regional variations, during these 5 months, the climate is dry and pleasant, the temperatures oscillating between 25 °C and 30 °C. From April to July, it is the great rainy season, during which there is a rise in temperatures and abundant precipitation.

Abidjan has a sub-equatorial climate, hot and humid, with an average temperature of 27 °C and an average degree of relative humidity of more than 80 %.

Paperwork & Formalities

To enter Côte d’Ivoire, any foreigner must have a valid national passport, laissez-passer or travel document containing at least the photograph of the holder, on which a biometric entry visa has been deposited beforehand.

Visa application forms are available free of charge at the Embassies of Côte d’Ivoire in your country of residence, or online on the website www.snedai.ci.

Get your biometric Visa at Abidjan’s Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport:

– Step 1: Pre-enlistment (online www.snedai.ci);

– Step 2: Payment (in Euro, 73€) ;

– Step 3: Receipt of the confirmation document (case of online pre-enrolment) ;

– Step 4: Enlistment at the airport.

However, whether ordinary or official, the biometric entry visa depends on the length of stay: – the transit visa cannot exceed three (03) days;

– the short stay visa cannot exceed three (03) months;

– the long stay visa cannot exceed one (01) year.

List of countries with or without visa

Nationals of the following countries holding ordinary or official passports are not subject to visa requirements :

ECOWAS: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea – Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo.

Other countries : Central African Republic, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Morocco, Mauritania, Seychelles, Singapore, Chad, Tunisia, Philippines

Nationals of the following countries, holders of diplomatic, service or official passports are not subject to the visa requirement: South Africa, Austria, Brazil, Gabon, Israel, Iran, Uganda.

HEALTH

The yellow fever vaccine is mandatory to enter and stay in the country. A check of the vaccine carnet is carried out on arrival in Côte d’Ivoire. It is strongly recommended to take out health insurance covering care abroad, as well as repatriation insurance

Credit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are accepted in major hotels, travel agencies and some shops in Abidjan and cities in the interior of the country. Many ATMs are offered by banking services.
